Emotions: A work of art, a song, a poem, a show, a photograph, a building – they all awaken the senses, positive or negative, sparking off a reaction in each person. What are emotions? The word emotion means the impulse that provokes an action. In psychology it is defined as a feeling physically expressed through some physiological function. The reality is that human beings are dominated by emotions rather than by reason.

We wish to awaken many sensations in the architecture of space, using light. The way light is used in a given space is something that may be moving to us. Because light is moving… With Troll’s new proposals, prepare yourself to experience feelings of joy, freedom, venture, surprise, fun, madness, happiness, desire, astonishment, relaxation, excitement, passion, courage… We want to dedicate this and successive chapters to lighting your emotions.

Freedom: We are dedicating this chapter to freedom, as it is an emotion with a far-reaching scope which transmits a great deal of underlying strength. According to J. Rousseau “He who desires only what he is capable of achieving and does what he wishes is truly free”.

Freedom is inspired here through the circus, for the creativity of its shows, for the flexibility of its contortionists, for the individualisation of the stage, for the free expression of its acrobats… An exciting and unrestrained show which leads us to present a new Troll project: Araña.

Araña: Araña is a project born from the collaboration between Jean Nouvel and Troll. Araña gives total freedom for each client to become the creator of his or her own style. The idea is to be able to place the lighting system wherever desired, with the final design depending on the creativity of each person.

Araña is an adventurous lighting solution, which challenges the individual’s creativity and imagination to create their own style with total freedom… a style of lighting with total freedom.

Flexibility: The concept of Araña revolves around total flexibility. The idea is to be able to place the product in any place and manner… there isn’t an ideal configuration, as this depends on each creator. Based around space, decoration and lighting needs, Araña can be styled in a range of shapes and forms.

Therefore, everybody can invent the final outcome by blending the different elements of the system. The final result will depend on the creativity and necessity of each person. Araña provides the necessary freedom for each user to be the creator of their own style.

Do it yourself: Araña is characterised by an easy-to-install “Do-it-yourself” system. Its operation is simple, from the ceiling connection point and by using interlinked suspended cables, luminaires can be placed at any desired place, position, height and power.

Araña has simple suspension systems and height variations which allow you to place the source of light wherever you wish. The lamps are also available in a wide range of shapes and forms: standard, globe, white, transparent, silver… each with a different aspect. And for added value, the system comes in different versions with dimmers that vary the intensity of light and so create a different ambience.

Personalisation: Araña is a solution which can be applied in any space and on any scale. Offices, public or private spaces and homes. The idea is to place the source of light wherever so desired, thus achieving personalisation.

With Araña the desired balance between the decorative and functional needs of any space can be easily achieved. A simple system allows you to hang the luminaire wherever you wish, regulate the strength of lighting and harmonise with a vast array of lamps.
