Design evolves, together with the set of concepts that compose it. Always thinking of the most universal design, and in particular all that comprehends professionalization and industrialization in the every sense of the word, it is clear that today the definition of design has to include the “environment” as part of the concept.

If up until a few years design implicated, novelty, new materials, technology, etc, design is now increasingly implied with sustainability: the use of recycled materials, the dematerialization of products, reusage and recycling of products when they have reached the end of their life cycle and the saving of raw materials, energy and water consumption, among others. Including environmental aspects in the design of products has evolved from being an idea to becoming a necessity, and in some cases a reality.

The Design for Recycling Award seeks to add a new space for reflection, inspiration… In short, a new overview of the incredible range of opportunities offered by the inclusion of environmental variables in design.
