Fènix. Hybrid concept car

Josep Mora

30/10/03. (Sala 217)

Opening October 30, 2003.

Josep Mora’s vision of industrial design as a technical engineer took shape in several pieces, the Globetrotter tricycle (1975), the Seven Bicycles that he presented at La Sala Vinçon in 1991, and the wooden Wabi bicycle financed by Camper.

His obsession with aerodynamic vehicles and his research on human-powered automobiles led him in 2003 to design the car he is presenting today at La Sala Vinçon.

It is Fènix, a new concept of hybrid, sporty and ecological car.

Just like the mythical Fènix bird that rose from its ashes, the Fènix concept car is based on many recycled elements from other vehicles and parts designed for other purposes that some twenty companies provided for its execution. Its design is based on the ecological choice of materials, construction systems, aerodynamics, weight savings and emissions.

In its interior Josep Mora has worked with renewable materials: wood, wicker, bamboo…

The structure is stainless, lightweight and recyclable.

The engine is hybrid, a Honda 900cc and a 15hp electric one.

The bodywork is made of aeronautical plywood and photovoltaic panels.

And a folding bicycle incorporated into the structure completes this car, whose purpose is to open the minds of designers and engineers to achieve a more sustainable design in the future.
