Fernando Megías
20/11/74. (Sala 029)
Megías’ practice stems from previous theoretical work.
The poster of the exhibition reflects a part of this theory, as it reproduces the layout of the hall in which a theoretical outline is developed. Everything has been designed according to the space where the exhibition will be held. Another space would have provoked a different result.
In the completely white painted hall, Megías placed a series of elements in simple, plain wood, the type used in construction. All rigorously painted in white and arranged in series. He says his aim is to convey a specific plastic dimension, which is only possible with the integration of the specific space of La Sala Vinçon and the pieces placed in the room. By moving the pieces to another space, you lose that particular plastic dimension and Megías would have to re-think the message basing it on the new data provided by the new space.
