Platja 1,60 was a conceptual installation of ecological denunciation that showed the civic conscience and indignation of the authors when they saw the beaches dirty and abandoned by a Francoist government, which also did not purify the rivers, so that all the dirt reached the sea.
The set-up consisted of sand from six Barcelona beaches, each 1.60 m. wide. In the center of the room, perfectly framed, were placed the sand samples collected from the beaches of Premiá, Malgrat, Canet, Garraf, Gavá and Barcelona, with the waste and filth that characterized them.
Around La Sala, about 40 cm. from the ground, the plinth showed the objects in cellophane bags found in the sand.
At the entrance to La Sala, photographs of places on the dirty coastline were projected on a curtain of elastic bands, accompanied by the sounds of the sea.
It was clearly an exhibition denouncing the ecological danger of the Barcelona coastline.
Open until May 25th.
