Ya Ya Ho
Ingo Maurer
14/05/86. (Sala 079)
The Ya Ya Ho series is very likely to be the most interesting lamp collection designed in many years.
Ingo Maurer is almost certainly the designer who best combines high-tech with high-sensitivity.
INGO MAURER, one of the world’s leading lighting designers, is presenting his YA YA HO system at La Sala Vinçon.
After working in several countries he finally settled in Munich, where he founded his own company, which has been producing his lamp designs ever since.
The Ya Ya Ho system consists of a low-voltage halogen light guide (12 volts) where various accessories can be attached to meet different lighting needs: living room, dining room, bedroom, ambient lighting… A complete lighting system, typical of office environments, intended this time for the domestic space. Maurer’s designs do not look like those of a professional in the field, they are more in keeping with a personal, almost magical aesthetic. His lamps, always surprising, have sometimes been described as sculptures or poems of light, given their strong artistic content and spectacular effects.
We did not manage to recognize the 57 attendees photographed by Ramon Cortés at the opening of Ingo Maurer’s exhibition, but we did recognize a few:
