Philippe Starck
22/09/1987. (Sala 091)
Presentation in La Sala of new series pieces, models and prototypes totally unpublished by Philippe Starck, distributed on pedestals that form a corridor outside the central red curtains. Outside the curtains a projection of the logo shown on the postcard. Inside the curtains, a sand-colored albero floor, and the projection of his self-portrait in large format.
A prolific activity, a variety of products on the market, a large number of projects and an inexhaustible capacity for work define this character who stands out as one of the best designers of the moment. He considers himself self-taught and anti-school. He started out in the field of furniture design and then moved on to interior design and architecture. In all media he moves with equal fluency. “My ethics can be defined in three words: to produce “fair” objects. He is concerned that the object should serve its purpose exactly, that the materials should be right, the function should be precise and that it should be affordable to those for whom it is intended. His designs are currently produced by the Spanish, Italian, French and Japanese industries.
The video projection inside the room is made by a BARCO device.
We would like to thank Telec S.A. and Otto Zutz for their collaboration.
